The Planning and Zoning Department coordinates growth and redevelopment issues within the City of Arlington. The Department administers and implements the City’s Comprehensive Plan , Zoning Ordinance (land use) and Subdivision Ordinance (platting). The Planning/Zoning Department consists of the Planning Commission, the Zoning Official, and the Building Official.

Planning Commission

The City has established a seven-member Planning Commission as an advisory board to the Council. The Planning Commission meets monthly to address land use and subdivision issues. The Commission holds public hearings, reviews applications, and makes recommendations on conditional use permits, variance requests, development plans, and ordinance standards.  The Planning Commission meets the first Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall (204 Shamrock Drive).
