Arlington Sesquicentennial in 2006

 

The Arlington Sesquicentennial Committee is busy planning various activities, events and programs to mark Arlington's 150 years as a city.  The third weekend in August 2006 is when the all-school reunion and city parade will be held, but other events and other activities will be staged at various times throughout the year. For more information on the following activities, please contact the chairperson:

Thursday, August 17th

  • 7:00 p.m.  MHS Greatest Generation Program - Arlington Community Center
 

Friday, August 18th

  • Sandwich/Pie & Ice Cream Social - 4-7 p.m. - Arlington Community Center - Sponsored by St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
  • Wagon Train- 6:00 p.m.
  • 7:30 p.m.  Style Show - Sibley East High School Auditorium.
  • 8:00-Midnight  Music - "Scratch" featuring Jimmy O'Brien - Four Seasons Park.
 

Saturday, August 19th

  • 8:00 a.m. - Road Race (Fun Run/Walk). Registration at Four Seasons Park (click here for more details)
  • Walking Tours of Downtown Business District.  Tours begin at City Parking Lot (Main & Fourth).  Tour start times are 9:00, 10:00, and 11:00 a.m. and 12:00, 1:00, 2:00 and 3:00 p.m. Tours run about 45 minutes in length.        (Click here for walking tour route).
  • 10:00 a.m. - All Graduate Choir practice - Sibley East School.
  • 11:00 a.m. - Veteran's Memorial dedication - Memorial Park.
  • 11:00 a.m. - Kid's Day - Four Seasons Park.  Great kids and family activities. (Click here for details).
  • Noon Meal - Community Center
  • 1:00 p.m. - Alumni Registration at school; tours of school; displays.
  • Historic Village - Four Seasons Park
  • 3:00 p.m. - All School Reunion program - Sibley East High School.
  • 4:30 p.m. - Lions Dinner - Four Seasons Park.
  • 4:30-8:30 p.m. - Music-"Wagon Wheelers"  - Four Season Park.
  • 8:30p.m.-12:30.am. - Music-"The Rhythm Kings" featuring Mike Glieden - Four Seasons Park.
  • 10:00 p.m. - Fireworks - Seating available at the football practice field/tennis courts (adjacent to A's Baseball Park) - bring your own lawnchairs.

 

Sunday, August 20th

  • 7:30-11:30 a.m. - Sibley Medical Center Brunch - Community Center. (Click here for poster).
  • Historic Village - Four Seasons Park.
  • 12:00 p.m. - Minnesota Prairie Line Railroad engine (on railroad siding).
  • 1:00 p.m. Sesquicentennial Parade
  • 3:00 p.m. - Sweet Corn Feed - Four Seasons Park.
  • 3:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. - Music-"The Trailblazers" featuring Mark Henry Alsleben - Four Seasons Park.
