Serving with Arlington PD Since: 2000
Prior Law Enforcement Duties: Worked in Saginaw, Minnesota as a Police Officer and also worked for the United States Border Patrol as a Senior Agent in San Diego, California.
Duties: Under the direction of the Mayor and within Civil Service rules, acts as chief administrative officer of the Police Department on all matters of operation and discipline. Plans, directs, and coordinates all activities of the department. Supervises the work of the other patrol officers. Plans and develops training programs for department personnel, subject to state laws. Formulates and prescribes work methods and procedures to be followed by the department. Appraises work conditions and takes necessary steps to improve police operations.
Special Interests: Has a special interest in traffic safety. Was part of the Safe & Sober Challenge Award that the Police Department won 4 years in a row. Enjoys time with his family and watching football.
Career Goal: To lead the Police Department into a positive direction and also by making a department that the City of Arlington can be proud of.
Personal Message: Everything you do today will somehow affect your future. You have a choice to make decisions that will affect you both positively and negatively.

Prior Law Enforcement Jobs: City of New Prague, Walnut Grove and Coon Rapids
Duties: To provide for the protection of life and property through the enforcement of the law in a manner consistent with Federal and State law and municipal ordinances and according to the policies of the City of Arlington.
Special Interests: Currently my family and watching my kids grow up. Others include downhill skiing, fishing and anything to do with computers. I want to build the Police Department into a top notch crime solving unit through the advancements in technology.
Career Goal: Finish my career healthy and to make the City proud of my service by providing leadership and help to all citizens. The rank of patrolman is my current position and moving up is something to think about if an opportunity ever exists.
Personal Message: Teach your kids about the dangers of doing drugs. We do our best to inform them through speaking to schools and other group functions. Unfortunately we usually deal with the too late part of the situation. No matter how much they think your nagging them eventually they will listen to you. Remember it is better for you to nag them, then for me to arrest them or help the coroner put them in a body bag.
